I posted on the firefly / lightening bug question last summer! I grew up calling them lightenin' bugs, but my firstborn calls them fireflies for some reason! He says he read it in a book, lol.
This post reminds me we need to go out with a jar some night soon!
lightning bugs! did you watch the My Friends Tigger & Pooh episode about them? It was really cool! I thought it would help Makayla warm up to hold one. Um ... no. She is still afraid of a bug. Any bug. Or worm. Or turtle. And don't get me started about water, bathroom fans, and automatic flushes and hand dryers. (you know, when I write it all out, my child is a scaredie-cat!)

Amy, I've always called them lightning bugs too...but ds3 calls them fireflies (actually he calls them firefwies :)...
The kiddos had a blast catching them and then letting them go!

Carlyn ... from the Mini Crew!
Carlyn, We haven't seen the Pooh episode...but it sounds like something my kiddos would enjoy :)
I was very surprised that ds3 actually let one walk all over his hand...but he did, and he loved it!
This picture is precious! I love the angle you took it at!!
