90 Days of God’s Goodness ~ A Review

90 days 90 Days of God’s Goodness: Daily Reflections That Shine Light on Personal Darkness by Randy Alcorn is a small, 300+ page hardback book packed with 90 devotions that accomplish what the author set out to do {according to the book’s subtitle}…shine light on personal darkness.

Then Joseph said to his brothers, “Come close to me.”  When they had done so, he said, “I am your brother Joseph, the one you sold into Egypt!  And now, do not be distressed and do not be angry with yourselves for selling me here, because it was to save lives that God sent me ahead of you.  For two years now there has been a famine in the land, and for the next five years there will not be plowing and reaping.  But God sent me ahead of you to preserve for you a remnant on earth and to save your lives by a great deliverance.

“So then, it was not you who sent me here, but God.  He made me father to Pharaoh, lord of his entire household and ruler of all Egypt…

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”

-Genesis 45:4-8; 50:20

It is with this scripture passage that Randy Alcorn opens the first of 90 devotions in this small yet powerful book.  Each of the 3-4 page devotions opens with a passage of scripture and closes with a short prayer.

In the middle of these Randy Alcorn shares encouraging words and stories about others who have suffered and reflects on how they endured their trials by turning to God for strength while in the midst of their suffering.

The topics that this small devotional covers are not light-hearted and easy, they are about real life and real suffering.  I found 90 Days of God’s Goodness to be a very encouraging devotional that I highly recommend to every one.

I received this book for free from WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group for this review.
